Just returned from 2 weeks staying in the Patricia Apartments in the old village Malia. We had originally booked to stay in the Irianna Apartments as we had been there before but Golden Sun changed our accommodation a week before we left, we were a bit apprehensive before we left but we'd only paid £200 each so we went for it.

The Patricia Apartments are near the top of Malia Old Village, next door to the sister hotel the Fanourakis where the main reception is. They also own the Oasis which is 2 minutes walk away. The apartment was brilliant, we had room 3 on the ground floor, really big living area with basic kitchen, table and chairs, a couple of coffee tables and 2 spare beds. Separate bedroom with dressing table and twin beds. Really big wardrobe with safety deposit box. We were really lucky and had two patios, one was shared with next door and caught the sun in the morning, the other was really private, big enough for table and two chairs and room to lay out in the sun. The Apartment was spotless, newly decorated, fresh towels and bedding twice while we were there and cleaned every other day. The girl who runs the place is at the reception next door every morning and evening and if you need her during the day the guys at the Oasis pool will get her for you. Golden Sun reps visit the pool every day if you need them. Oasis pool is lovely, loads of free sunbeds and umbrellas, nice reasonably priced food. Play music and have a TV, have a barbeque on a Thursday, but we didn’t go to it.

It's really quaint in the old village, lots of local houses round about, there's a school behind the apartments and a basketball court where the local kids hang around in the evenings, sometimes they get a bit noisy but nothing too bad. Loads of lovely restaurants nearby, I would recommend Milos, Elizabeths and Strofi in the Old Village. The chinese on Beach Road (about 15 mins walk) opposite the Mexican is really nice as well. We didn’t go down Beach Road at night as it's not really our scene but I'm sure any younger people will really love it. We preferred Epsilon Bar on the main road.

Malia is definitely quieter this year but no dearer than last year. Would recommend the Patricia Apartments.

Patricia Apartments are just 40 minutes taxi drive from Heraklion Airport and taxi’s can be booked before travel.

Patricia Apt's sit just 3 minutes stroll from Malia main strip and all the nightclubs, bars and restaurants.

The nearest supermarket is just round the corner with a larger Spar only 5 minutes away.

The main beach of Malia is just 10-15 minutes stroll down the main strip.

Patricia Apartments in Malia form part of Oasis Village Area and are well situated in Malia Old Town. These self catering rooms are an ideal base to explore Malia and all its hectic nightlife.

The rooms have recently been renovated and upgraded and sit close to the main beach road of Malia, which means your only a few minutes walk into the party atmosphere of Malia but just far enough away to make sure you get a good nights sleep.
