We stayed in the Hotel Panorama for one week in July 2004 and found it to be of a
very high standard. The rooms were very comfortable and clean with a very well equipped
bathroom which was supplied with clean towels on a daily basis.
The pool area was
simply stunning. The virtual pool was surrounded with lovely white cane furniture
and there were a large number of comfy sun loungers and umbrellas with plenty of
space to spread out. The food in the restaurant was of a very high standard with
a different theme every night from Gourmet to Farmers night, which turned out to
be local dishes.
All was very well presented and was always hot. The dining room
was outdoors which I was slightly sceptical about but it turned out to very clean
and gave spectacular views of the sunset over the mountains. We found the drinks
in the hotel and particularly in the mini bar to be exceptionally expensive but there
was a small but very acceptably stocked mini market about 20 meters from the hotel.
Entertainment
in the hotel was very limited and suited anyone who wanted a more tranquil end to
their day but a short walk into Kalamaki found a small number of Tavernas to keep
you occupied for a few hours at night. There was a frequent bus service, which stopped
right outside the hotel to Chania Town, and this was well worth a visit or two.
Overall
a great place for couples or singles wanting a quiet relaxing holiday in really nice
surroundings but not really the place to take the kids, as there was really nothing
for them to do.

It is a long time since I was on a package holiday, having had so many historically poor experiences. It was a real pleasure to recast this mould when I travelled to Crete and stayed at the Panorama Hotel in Chania.
We originally choose the resort and then the hotel. The locals drop the C and call it Hania is an amazing city. The Italian influence is every where, alongside the Greek and Turkish influences. The city is a melting pot of blending cultures, and the traveller who explores it has the pleasure of a rich experience.
The Panorama hotel, is a modern hotel and is located along the coast from the city centre. It was very clean and comfortable. The air conditioning was working!!! The main downside I suppose is that it is not close to any nice beaches. But it is quiet and has a fantastic salt water swimming pool.
We upgraded to the Blue wing, for adult guests, which meant our transfer was by taxi, a very worthwhile addition on its own. It also meant that we had real privacy and got to eat a superb breakfast outside by the pool. The package was half board and food was really good. Some of the hotel rules were a little confusing but by the end of the week we understood them.
Stayed for one week and would have loved to stay longer. Would consider staying here
again. The hotel was very family friendly and would be highly recommended for families.
