When out and about in Malia you need to be aware of what you can get by a little bit of haggling and friendly banter. If your in a large group the PR’s will offer you almost anything to come into the bar, especially if your female.

The top clubs and bars in Malia

There are so many bars and clubs in Malia its hard to pick on the best ones, so from past experience of Malia and its hectic nightlife the list is just a recommendation on where to visit at least once in your holiday to Malia.

To experience the best of Malia nightlife then the first club you have to visit is Banana Bar, its situated in the middle of Malia beach road and has an outdoor bar as well as a huge dance floor inside. The barman are fast and friendly and do lots of shows within the bar including juggling fire, dancing and of course lighting up the bar...

The second club that has been a firm favourite and well established in Malia is Zig Zags, this is just down from Banana bar and plays some of the best RnB, House and Dance ripped up and mashed into the soundtrack for your summer. Its easy to find Zig Zags just look or ask about the only lap dancing bar in Malia and its just opposite.

Close to Zig Zags and Banana bar is Candy Club, this was built in 2008 and is an amazingly modern club, with 2 dance floors, multiple bars, excellent DJs and fast efficient bar staff. Candy Club is famous for its mash up of new and old garage tracks and RnB. Expect to hear a lot of the newest Hed Kandi tunes played into the mix.

Moving up the strip on the right side you will find 2 of the most popular and well known clubs in Malia, once is mainly RnB and the other is dedicated to dance music only. Club UK is the only dedicated Dance club in Malia, with Wigan pier, old skool tracks, trance and the most uplifting dance music you will ever here. Always popular with Scousers and Geordies Club UK is an absolute must!!!

Moving over the road you will find the Factory Club, an absolute stomper of a club, with RnB and Funky house played every night, it also plays host to the weekly foam parties and skool discos plus a 2 hour free bar with strippers and pole dancers. Get down to the Factory Club for a brilliant night out in Malia.

Not everyone wants to visit the clubs in Malia and prefer to hit the many bars and pubs in Malia, for those that just want Malia bars then this quick run down will help you find the best bars.

The first and longest running bar in Malia has to be Premier bar, run by Pavlos you get great drinks and a chance to impress the opposite sex by singing on the karaoke. Moving up a few bars you will find the welcoming bars of London bar and Jumpin Jaks.

Start to move down the strip and you will find Cafe Mambo, an outside bar which is quite refreshing and not as stuffy as the indoor bars. Just above Mambos is Bar One, owned by the same people as Candy Club so you know your in for a great time. Further down towards the middle of the strip you have Yiassou Melon bar, this serves up great cocktails to share in melons. You can sit back and relax in their comfy chairs and people watch.

If your into indie music then try Orgasmic or the infamous Squeeze bar, which play the old indie tracks right up to present day indie music. If your right into your indie music there is The Venue which is a huge club/bar and is one of the best nights in Malia for atmosphere and tunes.

For the the best in disco music and pure cheese from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s visit Reflex bar or Cheeky Half, they hold school discos weekly.

Some other great bars which are well worth a mention are Roadhouse, Saltire Lounge, Lush bar and last but not least Zoo bar and Help Bar, the later being the bar where they invented the Headfucker fishbowl which is now infamous thanks to many newspaper articles and stories due to its “secret ingredients” and quick intoxicating effect.

Best Restaurants of Malia

Being a Mecca for tourists every summer Malia caters well for the British taste in food. If your looking for good English food then the Red Lion at the bottom of beach road is your best choice by far doing full English breakfasts for about 3-7 euros. Union Jack bar does a good range in meals and breakfasts that will suit everyone tastes or alternatively try “The House” for a nice great steak or Italian dish!

If its Mexican or Chinese restaurants in Malia your looking for try Gringo’s on the right side of Malia beach Road, this does some authentic Mexican food as well as good prices. For the best Chinese you have to grab a taxi to Stalis and ask the driver for the Jasmine House which has to be the best Chinese restaurant on the whole island.

There are well over 30-40 Greek restaurants in Malia but we are only going to cover two of the best. The first Malia restaurant is San Giorgio Restaurant located near Fanourakis Apartments just a minutes walk into the Old Town. The food here is amazing and offers all that you would need to experience real Greece and Crete. They also do Greek dancing shows every week and you can actively get involved. The second restaurant is our hidden gem of Malia. Kreta Taverna is located just past the BP Garage heading out towards Stalis on the main road of Malia. It does the most authentic Greek food we have tasted in a very long time. The menu is small but fantastically cheap for the huge dishes that you get. Its a hard to find restaurant but once found you will want to go back over and over again. You know a popular Greek restaurant when all the locals eat there and you will find them booking up tables quickly so get in there fast or make a booking for the night time at lunchtime when they open.
