Hersonissos -
The town of Hersonissos is very cosmopolitan attracting a varied group of European tourists as well as those from the UK. Like Stalis this is a town very popular with Irish holidaymaker's and you will find a wealth of Irish bars and cafes. The main centre of Hersonissos is crammed with relaxing cafes and Taverna’s and the waterfront has different places to eat from traditional Tavernas to Italian restaurants. You also have a great choice of hotels in Hersonissos from self catering right up to luxury hotels.
The high season in Hersonissos is May, June, July and August and at the height of
the season you will find it especially popular with clubbers from all over Europe.
Some of the best places to go clubbing in Hersonissos are near the main waterfront
with the likes of Camelot Club, Havana Club, Status Club, New York Beach Club, Bio
Bio Club, Temple Bar and also NRG Club. Prices are a bit more in the bars than you
would pay in Stalis or Malia but still cheaper than back home, expect the special
offers like free shots and buy 1 get 1 frees. For more relaxed bars try the main
road you will find a wealth of welcoming bars.
If you don’t want to be clubbing every
night there are many other things to do in Hersonissos. You can book some of the
many boat trips that leave from Hersonissos port daily to Dia island also known as
dragon island as its shaped like a dragon. There are fantastic horse stables called
Gregory’s Horses near Star beach complex which will take you on mountain or beachfront
rides. Also not far from Hersonissos is the local golf course.
Another great place

and offers a wealth of different activities from bungee jumping, go Karts, football
pitches as well as various pools and slides and daily entertainment. Just out of

The restaurants in Hersonissos
Hersonissos like all other resorts in Crete has some fine restaurants to suit everyone's
taste. From great British food, Italian restaurants, Dutch food cafes, and of course
traditional Cretan Tavernas. For Greek food try the Four Seasons restaurant which
is a firm favourite of many tourists. Restaurant Sergiani located in the central
square of the gorgeous small and traditional village Koutouloufari, just 800 meters
away from Hersonissos. Also Myrtios restaurant in Old Hersonissos is another. For
waterfront restaurants try Marina Lounge restaurant. For Chinese food look no further
than Lee Garden restaurant this comes highly recommended. For fast food you have
the choice of local Gyros shops and even a cheaper style of McDonalds called Goody's.

Hersonissos beaches are quite varied and most are quite small, the largest mentioned
before is Star Beach, further along towards Stalis is a quiet little beach which
has a few sunbed's and is quite relaxed although there are no cafes close so its
recommended you bring your own snacks for the day. There is another small beach
at the front of Stalis with few sunbed's but the cafes supply an endless amount of
drinks and snacks. Hersonissos is also one of the few places in Crete that has a
nudist beach, towards the resort of Anissaras you will find this quite secluded,
but obviously recommended for those who want an all over tan.
As well as the beaches
you will find plenty of shops selling an assortment of local Greek goods like olive
oils, herbs and spices. But also a lot of designer shops well set out where you
can find clothes at lower prices than that of the UK.
There's a wide variety of hotels in Hersonissos to book, from self catering full and half board and bed and breakfast. You can use the Search engine on this page or the front page of Holidays To Crete or view our “Selected Hersonissos Hotels” to book online now.
