Just arrived back from Petros Village, Analipsi, Crete with Olympic Holidays. We stayed in a two bedroomed self-catering apartment for one week. The complex is small low rise on the main road about 1.5km from a beach, the owners supply food throughout the day. It feels quite safe and relaxed. It would not be possible to cook for yourself as the facilities are very limited. The rooms are very basic and could be better maintained, but are clean.

There is virtually no information provided by Olympic Holidays and their reps. The service they provided was exceptionally poor, to being put in a taxi at the airport at 3:30am and being dumped at the road side on our arrival (rather than an escorted coach) with no-one to let us in to the complex or to tell us which rooms we where staying in; to not addressing the matter seriously enough when we did eventually get into our rooms and report the situation to the rep the next day; to not picking us u p for an arranged excursion (coach drove straight past us), to making us check out at 12 midday when our flight was leaving at 04:15 the following morning; to very nearly getting us run over by a taxi at 01:30 when the transfer coach arrived.

Olympic Holidays have not taken these matters seriously and do not appear to worry about their reputation.

As for Petros Village the more more you spend with them the better, otherwise I wouldn't rate it that highly.

We stayed at petros village apts 2 weeks ago and visited Analipsi village all the time. We loved it there, so quaint and tranquil. Being animal lovers we were upset to see so many cats but after meeting Greek Taverna owners they do their best to feed them. We loved Eleni and mykos. They put on a wonderful BBQ with traditional Greek dancing. I would recommend going to their place instead of booking a Cretan night through your rep. They are a wonderful couple, warm and friendly, and they feed the cats and care for them. Added bonus. Forget the canaries, we cant wait to return to Crete.

Myself and my husband visited Stalis in May for 1 week,we thoroughly enjoyed it,as it was our first time to Crete.we stayed at the KNOSSOS STUDIOS,which were basic but clean and freindly.we made quite a lot of friends during our short stay including Fatima and Patricio from the ilios cafe/bar near to Knossos studios. I recommended going in the ilios cafe/bar as it is a lovely and chilled out place .we are looking forward to returning soon as the food was great,every meal enjoyable.

Just to let everyone know that my restaurant Maistrali on Stalis beach road will be offering 'crisis' prices again this year, including 1 euro for a coffee, tea or big beer and lots of other offers... We also will be showing World Cup, and all kinds of food on the menu...

we have being going to Stalis for the last 4 years staying at the Lyda horizon hotel we love it there we hire a car drive around the island for 2 days beautiful villages to see Maries restaurant excellent food and service there the beach lovely Nicos bar very nice to have a drink and chat there and George on the corner from the Lyda lovely in there as well we are hoping to go back this summer again but have to find another tour operator to get there as budget in Ireland is gone very sad for us but i will keep looking.

If your thinking of staying in Malia then dont rent out a quad bike, your much better walking and saving ure euros for drinking and watersports. Also the Red lion in Malia is the best place ever - we visited for breakfast, lunch n dinner every single day of our hols!!
