Jeep Safari in Crete - Information

Taking the Lassithi route with Safari Club sees you being picked up around 9am and the first place you are heading for is the plateau of Katharo, with cooling pine forests and rugged terrain, you cross through tracks and trials and dried up riverbeds as well as full flowing rivers. During this trip you get to visit Zeus’s cave where mythology says that Zeus, the father of all the gods was born.

You have a chance to visit the Lassithi eco village and Homosapien Museum and enjoy a BBQ cooked up by the safari staff. After the slap up BBQ you visit the traditional village of Krassi and drive through the area of Selinari where you can see the endangered Vultures of Crete.

The trip around Lassithi is perfect for all those holidaymaker's on the east of the island but if you have the opportunity to visit the west of Crete then the next trip is ideal for you.

Getting picked up early again at 9am you get taking into the mountains where you happen upon small traditional villages, stunning scenery and one in particular is very popular; the village of Spili with its natural mineral water springs and tiny little gift shops selling locally crafted goods like honey and Raki.

Heading down out of the mountains you are taking to the beach of Preveli, this is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Crete, with palm trees surrounding the sandy and shingle beach and crystal clear waters. Preveli beach was chosen to film the Bacardi adverts of the early 90’s. Its the only place in Crete where you can take a dip in mountain streams and rivers and then hop into the clear blue Libyan Sea.

After visiting Preveli beach you are taken to an amazing BBQ with as much wine as you can drink, then its a trip through Kroustaliotico Gorge and on back to Rethymnon.
